  After School Meals Program

Our After School Program is in its 7th year, serving hot, homecooked meals to our kids.
The children all live locally and each exhibits at least 3 of the 10 clinical risk factors for
children living in poverty.

The idea is that "All Kids Eat for Free" and "Adults Can Volunteer".  In the year 2008
we have averaged 600 meals per week in the summer and 300 meals per week in winter.

All food is cooked on the premises.  Diner food like fried chicken, Sponge Bob
Meatloaf, salisbury steak, ham & beans, and a variety of vegetables.

We encourage parents to participate in the family meal concept.  Help with
homework and afterschool activities is better if parents also attend.

Junior Culinary Arts Program

Children are taught to cook nutritious and good tasting food recipes.  We offer training in
sanitation, safety and storage.  Children actually cook meals and banquets under expert
supervision.  Ages range from 8 to 14 years old. Certificates of achievement have been
awarded to some 35 children since 2005.

  Saint Sophia Coffee Consortium

Every morning coffee and biscuits are served for our growing homeless population and
other locals.  On cold mornings we drive throughout the area picking them up and bringing
them in for free coffee and warmth.  We watch the news and discuss relevant current events.
According to the Coffee Consortium charter, we must solve all state, local, and international
problems on a daily basis.  No votes are ever unanimous!
